The Department of Electronic Computing Machines, established in 1963 as the first computer-oriented department in Western Ukraine, is a cornerstone of the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology at Lviv Polytechnic National University. Over the decades, it has trained more than 5,000 engineers, cultivating expertise in computer engineering, software systems, and automated control technologies. The department has been at the forefront of developing digital devices, high-performance computing systems, and innovative applications in areas such as signal processing, medical diagnostics, and environmental monitoring. Its ongoing research focuses on distributed systems, grid technologies, and pattern recognition. With a strong legacy of national and international scientific contributions, the department continues to shape future leaders in computing innovation.
