EtherCAT Fieldbus Coupler for WAGO I/O System 755 Series

The modular system supports numerous fieldbus systems. Depending on the application, users can choose between couplers and controllers for different communication systems.

The EtherCAT Coupler 8461-0013/7553-8000 enables EtherCAT applications while maintaining the flexibility of the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM. It automatically identifies connected I/O modules and generates the relevant application data. During EtherCAT telegram processing, the coupler extracts its relevant data from the telegram and completes the required process data.

An EtherCAT communication unit with an EtherCAT Slave Controller (ESC) controls process data exchange with the EtherCAT master. Hardware-based processing of lower communication levels supports high transmission speed and reliable data exchange. Mailbox, cyclic and acyclic data can be transmitted and processed via CoE. Easy, time-saving commissioning is achieved through automatic address assignment and an ESI file integrated into the EtherCAT master’s engineering tool. Line-in and line-out RJ45 connectors on the front of the coupler enable easy configuration of line topologies.

The device ID for the EtherCAT Coupler 8461-0013/7553-8000 can be permanently assigned via an address switch. The coupler therefore retains its configured device ID regardless of its position in the EtherCAT network. This method is less restrictive than consecutive node numbering based on fieldbus position: network modifications do not require address changes after rewiring.
