LIGO Laboratory

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) Laboratory develops and operates facilities designed to detect gravitational waves produced by cosmic events, such as colliding black holes, merging neutron stars, and supernova explosions. LIGO is funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and managed by Caltech and MIT.
