VLT® FlexMotion™ Decentral Servo Drive DSD 520

VLT® Decentral Servo Drive DSD 520 is a high-performance decentralized servo drive with a nominal current rating of up to 4.5 A. Its open motor architecture supports a wide range of PM, AC and linear motors, as well as numerous feedback technologies and sensorless control, providing maximum flexibility for machine builders. With its IP67 protection, DSD 520 is designed for flexible and scalable machine architectures in packaging, labeling, capping, material handling and other demanding automation applications.

Integrated motion control enables the drive to execute motion sequences autonomously, reducing the workload of the central PLC and simplifying machine architecture. In addition, advanced functional safety over EtherCAT provides a state-of-the-art safety solution that streamlines machine design and reduces engineering effort.

The Plug-and-Twist hybrid cabling concept combines power supply, control voltage, functional safety, and fieldbus communication in a single connection, enabling fast, reliable, fail-safe and cost-efficient installation. Multiple decentralized drive units can be powered from a single VLT® Power Supply Module PSM 520 using simple daisy-chain wiring, significantly reducing cable complexity and installation costs.

Optional VLT® FlexSafety™ provides advanced functional safety functions, including Safe Brake Control (SBC) and Safe Brake Test (SBT), enabling safety-certified control and monitoring of motor holding brakes in accordance with IEC 61800-5-2.
