Embedded PC Series, Compact PLC
With the CX series Embedded PCs, Beckhoff combines PC technology with the modular I/O level to create a space-saving industrial controller on the DIN rail. Terminals from the Beckhoff I/O range can be connected to the right side of every Embedded PC as standard. The terminals are simply plugged into the Embedded PC; contact is established when they click into place, without any further action.
The direct connection option for the I/O systems eliminates the cost of additional couplers, reduces wiring effort, and enables a compact and space-saving design of the controller in the control cabinet. EtherCAT Terminals (IP20), Bus Terminals (IP20), and EtherCAT Box Modules (IP67) are suitable for direct connection of the I/O systems.
The CX series combines the worlds of industrial PC and hardware PLC and is suitable for control tasks in every performance range. Programming and commissioning of CX products is carried out via the Ethernet interface, which can also be used to connect the controller to a regular network. System configuration and programming of the PLC functionality are carried out using TwinCAT software.
The product portfolio ranges from microcontrollers with Arm® processors to powerful multi-core solutions with Intel® Xeon® processors, thus offering optimal value for money.The devices in the CX20xx, CX52xx, CX53xx, and CX56xx embedded PC series offer modular expansion options. Depending on the CX type, the controllers can be supplemented with expansion modules and configured as a modular control system, depending on the task at hand. This allows different applications to be implemented on the same hardware, for example, a PLC and motion control system with a DVI/USB interface or a multimedia system (building automation) with an audio interface.
The optional interface, a common feature of all second-generation CX devices (CX9020, CX5100, CX5200, CX5300, CX5600, CX20x2, CX20x3), can be equipped with a variety of signal types ex works, making it the ideal interface extension for non-modular embedded PCs: Fieldbus interfaces are available in slave and master versions, additional expansion modules, optional interfaces can be equipped ex works, and control panels can be connected directly as display devices via DVI/DP/USB.
