Compact Drive Technology

Beckhoff offers a wide range of compact, modular, and scalable drive solutions at I/O level for connecting all common drive technologies such as servo, stepper, BLDC, and DC motors in the low voltage range up to 48 V. The direct integration into the Beckhoff TwinCAT automation software enables convenient and fast programming. In doing so, TwinCAT 3 offers the ideal development environment for the fast and efficient implementation of drive technology requirements with comprehensive and powerful tools such as the Motion Designer, Drive Manager 2, or Scope.

In addition, Beckhoff also offers an extensive selection of accessories, which includes not only pre-assembled cables and gearboxes, but also brake chopper terminals, braking resistors, and an external fan cartridge for increased performance.

The ELM72xx-9018 model also supports fully comprehensive Safe Motion safety functions such as:

  • stop functions (STO, SOS, SS1, SS2)
  • speed functions (SLS, SSM, SSR, SMS)
  • position functions (SLP, SCA, SLI)
  • acceleration functions (SAR, SMA)
  • direction of rotation functions (SDIp, SDIn)

Beckhoff offers EtherCAT I/O Terminals ELxxxx/ESxxxx for standard and special industrial applications to

  • ELXxxxx series for direct connection of intrinsically safe field devices,
  • high-precision measurement modules ELMxxxx, 
  • plug-in modules EJxxxx, 
  • EtherCAT Box modules EPxxxx, suitable for direct use in harsh environments and 
  • EtherCAT P Box modules EPPxxxx which combine communication signals and power supply on a 4-wire standard Ethernet cable, thus reducing wiring effort by up to 50 %.

EtherCAT Box modules are available in different housings

  • EPxxxx/EPPxxxx in fully incapsulated industrial housing (IP67) and
  • ERxxxx series in a zinc die-cast housing (IP67) for applications in the food industry.

To use standard signals for safety tasks in any networks of fieldbuses EtherCAT I/O Products with TwinSAFE SC Technology are the right choice. The typical signal characteristics and functionalities of the I/O components are retained. To distinguish TwinSAFE I/Os from standard I/Os they are marked with a yellow strip at the housing front and can be identified by the product name extensio n -xx9x.
